One of their biggest clients is the Griffins, Piper and William, whose daughter Emma has an auto-immune disorder. Nico works for Lester, who specializes in delivering packages to wealthy individuals. Nico Price, a motorbike courier with immunity, due to the fact he was infected with the virus, is in a virtual relationship with Sara Garcia, a young artist living with her grandmother Lita whose lockdown prohibits them from physical contact. In these camps, the infected are left to die or forcibly get better. In the United States, people are required to take temperature checks on their cell phones while those infected with COVID-23 are taken from their homes against their will and forced into quarantine camps, also known as "Q-Zones" or concentration camps, where some fight back against the brutal restrictions. It was overwhelmingly panned by critics, who considered the film fear-mongering propaganda and said it did not take advantage of its premise, although Stormare's performance was praised by some.īy 2024, the COVID-19 virus has been mutated into COVID-23 and the world is in its fourth pandemic year. Songbird was released through premium video on demand on December 11, 2020, by STX Films. It was the first film to have production following the shutdown. The cast joined in June, and filming took place around Los Angeles over July and August. The project was announced in May 2020, with screenwriters Adam Mason and Simon Boyes having come up with the idea in March, shortly after the pandemic stopped all film production. The film stars KJ Apa, Sofia Carson, Craig Robinson, Bradley Whitford, Peter Stormare, Alexandra Daddario, Paul Walter Hauser, and Demi Moore. Songbird is available to stream on Amazon Prime.Songbird is a 2020 American dystopian science fiction thriller film based on the COVID-19 pandemic. I think it is fair to say that Songbird is not going to be breaking down any barriers or winning any awards but it is entertaining enough to pass the time one cold winter evening, so add it to your watchlist and let me know what you think. This under development means that we don’t really connect with any of the characters and the shady affair sub plot is nothing more than a distraction from the film’s main focus, which is a rather stereotypical love-conquers-all romance story resulting in a rather predictable ending. Mandatory temperature checks are carried out every day and if the virus is detected, armed guards and men in full haz-mat suits come to take you and your family to the quarantine or ‘Q’ zone. Although with enough cash, one of those little yellow wristbands could be yours – immune or no. In the not too distant future, the Covid pandemic has evolved to such an extent that the country is put under martial law and the only people allowed outside are those immune to the disease, identified by coded yellow wristbands.
